is required for all ARES Team Members. Please obtain a copy and begin documenting your training and skills!
When the going gets rough, it's important to have proper training to fall back on! And the best way to get good training is to participate in all the ARES activties we offer, including checking into the bi-weekly nets, attending quarterly training sessions, and participating in exercises, drills and public service events.
Most importantly, your training MUST BE DOCUMENTED! This is done with the ARES TASK BOOK. Expand the Training tab above to read more about how to use the ARES Task Book, and read background information about it's purpose, and download your copy.
Lancaster County ARES holds formal training activities each quarter. Please see the Calendar for upcoming Training event details.
The training schedule is as follows:
Q1: January -- A formal presentation about ARES, open to the public, followed by a Drill.
Q2: April -- A propagation and repeater system survey to/from various locations in Lancaster County.
Q3: July -- A hands on skill building training where we put a specific EMCOMM Skill to the test, followed by a team picnic!
Q4: October -- Simulated Emergency Test (SET) A large scale drill conducted in conjunction with ARRL EPA Section.
